Saltstraumen photo workshop 2012

Don't miss your chance to dive and photograph what National Geographics thinks is the 5th best dive in the world. I'll be on hand to give you tips, tricks and positive feedback to help you on your way to create better and new images.

Saltstraumen photo workshop will be held from October 6th to 12th 2012. I will be on assignment for Dykking (The Norwegian Dive-magazine) doing a feature on the ”mighty current” and thought it would be great time to combine this with a workshop and a photography event where we as underwater photographers can meet and exchange ideas.

For those of you who don't know Saltstraumen, it is the strongest tidal current in the world. Up to 400 million cubic meters of salt water pass a 3 kilometer long and 150m wide straight every 6 hours, peaking at speeds of 22 knots (or 41 km/h) and creating whirlpools or maelstroms up to 10 meters in diameter. Marine life flourishes - every nook and crannie occupied with some form of life. We will of course dive the current during high and low tide when current is munimal and have chosen a week where diving is favourable.

This 5 day diving package includes 10 boat dives with professional guides, diving the current as it turns to facilitate the best of conditions for photography. In general this is a very good time of the year to visit the current, as the visibility is getting better whilst large schools of saith, wolfish and a plethora of invertebrates are still present in large numbers in the current. The amount of life drops with the temperature and the available light at the onset of winter. Temperatures are still comfertable in October and there is still light to take those breathtaking scenic shots of this majestic underwater landscape.

Prices range from 5625NOK (Approx. 750Euro) depending on your choice of accomodation. The package includes 10 boat dives and accomodation in 4 person cabins. (2 person cabins are available on request for an additional fee).

Spaces are limited (MAX 8!) and we will fill the spaces on a ”first come”- basis.
